Based
on the novels: "The Night Circus" by Erin Morgenstern and "The
Double Shadow" by Sally Gardner,
Animating Books Through Stillness mashes the two contrasting novels together into one
world. Composed within a dichotomy of Nightmare and Dream state, this project's
goal is to create a shift in perspective. At first glance, the scene of the
circus immediately represents the "Dream state" whereas the shadowed
world beneath - the nightmare. However, once the light shines the perspectives
switch, no longer is the initial nightmare a nightmare but an illuminated movie
house, filled with nostalgia in a Tim Burton-esque light. With this sudden
radiance, the once dreamy circus above is thrown into a darkness, no longer as
desirable as it once was.
